Enchanting farm life
In Schagen and its surroundings, you will find an abundance of characteristic cheese-cover farmhouses, typical of this region of North Holland. With their characteristic pyramid-shaped roofs, they form a nostalgic picture not to be missed during a leisurely bike ride through the area. Also discover the beautiful monumental farm on Molenweg, a true eye-catcher in the landscape. Would you like to gain more insight into life on such a traditional farm? Then visit the restored 17th-century city farm Vreeburg, now transformed into a museum. Here you will step back in time and experience daily life as it was in the early twentieth century. Also, don't forget to explore the Carriage Museum at the back for a completely nostalgic experience.
Traditional festivities
During the West Frisian Folklore in Schagen, the old West Frisian culture is celebrated as if the twentieth century is still alive and well. Every Thursday from July through September, you can enjoy a colorful parade in which people dress in authentic West Frisian costumes. After the parade, you can immediately proceed to the lively West Frisian market, where you can once again enjoy a leisurely stroll among the stalls!
